Athletes took to the hardwood at Freedom Middle School in Fredericksburg, Virginia on March 26 for the AAU Girls 3-on-3 Basketball Virginia Grand Prix.

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (March 26, 2022) – Athletes took to the hardwood at Freedom Middle School in Fredericksburg, Virginia on March 26 for the AAU Girls 3-on-3 Basketball Virginia Grand Prix. The non-stop, rapid pace of 3-on-3 basketball filled the gymnasium with action.
Teams from Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania all traveled to the courts looking for a chance to earn a spot in the AAU Girls 3-on-3 World Championships. Teams were divided into two divisions: 5th/6th grade or 12U and 7th/8th grade or 14U.
Two teams finished the weekend on top of the standings and headed home with new titles. In the 12U division, the Fairfax Stars 4th/5th grade team ended pool play as the number 2 seed heading into bracket play. They were able to advance to the championship game where they would defeat the Virginia Hurricanes - Black. In the 14U division, GTS Fusion – Neon would finish their weekend undefeated. After going a perfect 6-0 in pool play, the team would take down GTS Fusion – Pink in the championship final.
Teams now look forward to perfecting their game before they get to the AAU Girls 3-on-3 World Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee. The World Championships will be taking place on June 11, 2022 and will be accompanied by the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2022 Induction Ceremony.
